Established in 1997, the Cherokee Sentinel is part of the Sentinel Newspapers group that serves western North Carolina and northeast Georgia. This group consists of five publications: Cherokee Sentinel, Towns Sentinel, Smoky Mtn. Sentinel, Union Sentinel, and Graham Sentinel.
