Interact Club to sponsor Easter egg hunt

The Murphy High School Interact Club went shopping for the toiletries for Christmas.

The Murphy High School Interact Club will be sponsoring an Easter egg hunt on April 1, 2006 for area children and their families. The hunt will be at 11 a.m. at the Murphy High School track by the football field. Children up to the age of 12 are invited to bring a basket and hunt for eggs. Family Resources of Cherokee County will be on hand to give out prizes and safety tips for children.

The Interact Club which is sponsored by the Murphy Rotary Club has 90+ members this year and performs many service projects for their school and community. The lnteract Club's fall projects include helping Family Resources with Kids' Fair 2006 in September, working with the John C. Campbell Folk Schools Fall Festival, raising funds for "Crop Walk", which helps local food banks, and helping with "Santa's Breakfast", sponsored by "Toys for Tots". For this year the club has added Christmas caroling at the Murphy Medical Center's Nursing Home and Alzheimer's unit.

During Valentines the Interact Club made Valentine cards for the residents of the nursing home and will be doing their highway clean-up along with clean-up projects on campus. They also help to raise funds for the "American Cancer Society's Relay for Life" and work with the House Raising Volunteers of Cherokee and Clay counties.

The Interact Club is assisting with the Special Olympic s events of 2005.

In April the Interact Club will assist with Special Olympics, which are being held at Andrews High School this year.
