The Brasstown Ringers will present their annual spring concert of handbell music at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, N.C. at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11. The concert will be held in the Keith House Community Room and is free and open to the public. Donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Brasstown Ringers, the community handbell group of western North Carolina and north Georgia, continues to challenge its ringers with new and exciting music. Showing that handbells aren't "just for Christmas," the program will include pieces related to the church year as well as several lively and original pieces for handbells embellished with creative percussion (audience participation is encouraged!). On Sunday, May 13, the concert will be repeated at First Baptist Church of Blairsville, GA at 6 p.m.

North Carolina members of the Brasstown Ringers are Elaine Bagley, Carla Brown, Ida Mae Holcomb, Suzanne Majors, Robin Stevenson and Joan Marble of Murphy; Valerie Garrett of Andrews; Steve Holcomb of Marble; and Henry Meinecke of Brasstown. The Georgia members are Lori and Bruce Brunner of Morganton; Liza Lawrence of Blue Ridge; and Glenda Wattenbarger of Epworth. The group is directed by Pat Meinecke of Brasstown, NC.

Friday concerts at the Folk School continue on May 18 with Hayesville folksinger and songwriter Sammy Walker.
