Child evangelism fellowship seeks volunteers to host 5-day clubs

The local chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), an international, Bible-centered missionary organization for children, is seeking volunteers to host 5-Day Clubs in their homes, churches, day care facilities and neighborhoods during the month of July.

5-Day Club is a free, fun-filled hour held each day for five consecutive days. Children ages 5 through 12 are presented with Bible lessons, creative learning activities, inspiring missionary stories, meaningful songs and Scripture memory verses. Clubs are typically held in homes, churches, day cares, parks and other community areas where children gather. Hosting a 5- Day Club includes providing a meeting location, refreshments, and inviting children to the club.

5-Day Clubs are led by trained teenagers, and presently, seven individuals have completed 12 hours of training. Breanna Cook, Kaley Geyer, Timothy Hamby, Anna Padgett, Hailey Rogers, Wesley Stephens, and Courtney William- will continue their training at Good News Camp in Asheville for 10 days during the month of June.

"The training these teenagers receive provides tremendous opportunities, not only in 5-Day Clubs, but also in preparation for their service in Sunday School, missions, and other children's ministries," said Volunteer Director Larry Cantrell. "It is a great investment in their future."

CEF presents the Gospel of Jesus Christ through various programs year round. When school is in session, Good News Clubs are available to elementary and middle school students and feature songs, games and Bible lessons. During the 2006-2007 school year, 70 volunteers of the Far Western Mountains Chapter of CEF provided 17 Good News Clubs in elementary and middle schools in Cherokee, Clay, and Macon Counties.
