Cherokee County Senior Games soon to be a reality
      Nearly two months ago the first meeting of the Senior Games Steering Committee was held at the Penland Senior Center and since that time a lot has happened toward making the Senior Games a reality in Cherokee County.

New wellness center fees approved - No county funds to be used, Mitchell pledges

      "We pledge that no county funds will be used for the operation of this facility." Dr. Brian Mitchell made that promise at a meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners on May 22 "We will support the operation through membership and daily fees," he said.

New jail cells delivered
     Prefabricated jail cells were being delivered last week to the site of the new Cherokee County Detention Center. The cells come in two parts with jail fixtures such as beds, commodes and sinks. The two parts are fitted together and then welded.
