Andrews Gym Stars wow coach in Georgia

The Andrews Gymnastics Center Prep Optional team concluded its outstanding season on April 28-29 with a sixth place team finish (of 15 teams) at the Georgia State Gymnastics Meet held in Woodstock, Gerogia. With 20-25 competitors in every age division, three Andrews Gym Stars, Jenna Phillips, Alexis Webster, and Erika Griggs finished in the top five all-around at the state competition.

"The drama of the competition was that moment before competeing on her second event, our team leader, Lauren Beaver, become ill and had to withdraw from the competition. Beaver had been the All Around Champion at every meet but one that we went to this season," said head coach Jason Queen. "It was disappointing to lose her."

Queen said that the Gym Star's chance to place in the team competition came down to their three youngest gymnasts, Phillips, Webster, and Griggs, who competed in the eight and nine year old divisions on day two of the state meet. "I told them I needed them to score nines on every event - and they delivered!"

Andrews Gymnastics Center will be hosting the Hill Billy Hoedown, two weekends packed full of fun competitions for all their students on May 17-18 as well as May 25-26. The public is cordially invited to attend. For information, call (828)321- 5412.
