St. Michael's Youth Choir special service

The Church of the Messiah will host St. Michael's Youth Choir in a special service of Choral Evensong on Tuesday, June 12th at 6:00 p.m. The 33 member touring choir consists of 6th- 12th grade choristers. Kevin Kerstetter, organist and choirmaster at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Raleigh, is the choir's director. The choir will be accompanied by Dr. Brock Downward, organist.

The choir will sing a traditional choral Evensong, including a setting of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis by George Dyson, a setting of the Responses by William Smith. Evensong will include an arrangement of the spiritual "Swing low, sweet chariot", a setting of the Requim text "Pie Jesu" by Malcolm Archer, as well as other anthems and hymns. During the choir's tour, they will also sing Evensong at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Brevard, NC.

The Church of the Messiah is located at 76 Peachtree St. across from the Cherokee County Courthouse. The Rev. Dr. James A. Johnson, Rector invites the public to attend this inspiring service of music.
