The hills are alive
Cast selected for "The Sound of Music"

Musical director Paul Dyer rehearses with some of the Von Trappe children. Left to right: Carly Payseur, Kathryn Bixbee, Trevor Barber, Julia Lindsey and Aspen Fine.
Auditions for "The Sound of Music" at the area's regional theater, the Peacock Playhouse, brought out 68 people. The interest for many was not only the delightful family musical but also the return of Director Nancy Davis and Musical Director Paul Dyer. They were absent from the theater for too long. Theater goers remember their lively and fun musical productions such as " The Wizard of Oz," "Oliver," "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and "The Music Man." Expectations are high for "The Sound of Music." Davis said she has never had such an incredible choice of fine singers.

Davis is a theater veteran who has her own children's theater in Florida and runs a theater camp for children in North Carolina where she spends the summer. Dyer has an excellent musical background. He will handle the singing, and will have an orchestra in the pit for the play.

Be sure to plan to see this wonderful play. It will run Thursday through Sunday, July 19-22, 26-29 and August 2-5. For further information you can call the theater at (828)-389- 8632 or toll free (877)-691- 9906.
