Myrtle Cornwell

Myrtle Louise Cornwell Coleman, age 84, of the Grape Creek Community Murphy, NC died Saturday May 26, 2007 at the Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home in Murphy, NC.

A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC; she was the daughter of the late George Cleveland and Lillie Charlotte Lovingood Cornwell. She worked in the lunchroom at Murphy School for many years and later at Levi Strauss and Company. She was a member of the Grape Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening. Myrtle loved her Lord, family and church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bailey Barton Coleman; grandson, Cody Coleman; sisters, Janet Crain and Osia McLeymore and brother Luther Cornwell.

She is survived by two sons and their wives Harold and Jean Coleman, Steve and Blanche Coleman; three daughters and their husbands, Anna and Marvin Shuler, Kay and Leonard Amos and Joyce and Maynard Hogsed. 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews survive also.

Pallbearers were grandsons; Keith Johnson, Mark Johnson, Jeremiah Barnard, Billy Vespasian, Eric Hogsed and Dewayne Hogsed. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonah Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Josh Stalcup, Michael Stalcup, Jake London and Matthew Coleman.
