The first annual Chamber Fish Fry and Boat Show was held Saturday outside the Depot in Murphy. Spectators browsed by craft booths and dined on delcious fish catered by the Longhouse Restaurant, all while enjoying the beautiful weather.
The event was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and was a great avenue for local businesses to show what they have to offer.
The boat show was held at the T.V.A boat ramp where Smith Power Sports, High Country Canvas, Appalachian Outfitters, and Allen K Designs showcased their boats, jetskis, kayaks, canoes and camping gear. Agreat crowd had fun paddling in the "advanced elements" inflatable kayaks from Appalachian Outfitters throughout the day. "So many people enjoyed the different perspective of the river that you get when you are on a kayak." said Tammi Johnson. Kids also had a great time trying their hand at the Doyle's Restaurant dunking booth, and the band "The Last Rezort" provided live music for the event.
