Dorothy Conroy
Dorothy J. Conroy, 93, of Marble died Wednesday (June 20, 2007) in a Murphy care facility. A native of Brooklyn, NY, she had lived in North Port, FLbefore moving to Marble in 2005. She was a homemaker and a member of the Saint William Catholic Church. Mrs. Conroy was an auxiliary member of the VFW Steinkamp Brothers Post 853 in New York City. She held the office of President of the auxiliary for two years and was Secretary for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary McDevitt Fitzgerald; her husband of 50 years, Francis A. Conroy; and her daughter, Joan M. Henriksen.
Surviving are a daughter, Eileen Murphy and husband, Peter of North Port, FL; a
son, Frank Conroy and
wife, Christine of
Marble; nine
grandchildren,
Elizabeth, Peter, Michael,
Maryanne, and
Stephen Murphy,
Howard and
Monica Henriksen,
Holly Conroy, and
Tyler Strickland; and
seven great grandchildren, Calla and Emma Hinton, Thomas, Annie-Ruth, Megan, Kristina, and Tyler Murphy.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday (June 29) in the San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port. Interment was in Venice Memorial Gardens in Venice, FL.
Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy was in charge of local arrangements.
