Clifford Zimmer

Clifford G. Zimmer, Jr, 82, of Murphy died Saturday (June 23, 2007) in a Chattanooga, TN hospital. A native of Elmira, NY, he had lived in New Canaan, CT for most of his life before moving to Cherokee County 14 years ago.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Cynthia Swebilius Zimmer; a daughter, Linda Christine Tiani and husband, Patrick of New Canaan, CT; six sons, Curtis Zimmer and wife, Marcia of Munson, MA, Thomas Zimmer and wife, Barbara of Seattle, WA, Eric Zimmer and wife, Susan of Sandy Hook, CT, Steven Zimmer and wife, Christine of Conway, NH, Timothy Zimmer and wife, Tara of Chicago, IL, and John Zimmer and wife, Christina of Brooklyn, NY; a brother, Robert Zimmer and wife, Lee of San Diego, CA; and 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in loving memory of Clifford G. Zimmer, Jr. to the Governor Morehead Foundation, School for the Blind, c/o Robin Keller, 309 Ashe Ave., Raleigh, NC 27606 or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515.

Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy was in charge of all arrangements.
