Brasstown Possum Trails first Possum Cup Series race was held recently. On Saturday, Tommy Boyd from Atlanta led the pack in the "Dash for Cash", but was beat out in the Pro Class Race by local boy Blake Allen.
Laura Lovingood took home the first place trophy in the 85 beginner class with her brother Travis taking home second place. Justin McRae placed first in a narrow victory over Kolbe Dooley in the 200 beginner Class, while Dustin Miller dominated the ATV class with a first place in bother motos. Chester Rowland, owner of Rowland Body Shop in Hayesville, was the only Vintage Class rider, but we're hoping to have more vintage riders in the future.
Race official Jack Phillips told the racers that he was very pleased with the quality of racing and the sportsmanship of the racers. This was our first race and we're still trying to work out the kinks, but everyone was really patient and all in all it went pretty well.

On Sunday the action heated up with an endurance race which took place in both trails and track. Riders tested their skills and stamina in a challenging course through woods, mud, water, and rough terrain. The winners for the three different racing classes were Tyler Payne, Blake Allen, and Dustin Miller. Taking second place in the three divisions were Kolbe Dooley, Russell Crisp, and Danny Truett. Hunter Baldwin worked for his first place trophy in the kids 50 race.
The track owners would like to say a special thanks to Rideable Customs, Clay County Sheriff's Department, and Brasstown Volunteer Fire Department, without whom the race wouldn't have been possible.
