Alzheimer's Support Group of Murphy meets the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Murphy Senior Center. Contact Laura Harris at 828-644-0650 for more information. The Cherokee County Chamber/Welcome Center is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Chapter J of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) meets the third Saturday of each month at Daniel's Steak House in Hiawassee. Lunch is at 11 a.m. and the meeting is at noon.We encourage current members of the GWRRA and anyone interested in becoming a member to join us. Guests are always welcome, and we look forward to seeing participants from other chapters. There are great rides coming up and we hope many of you will join us. Local artist, Penny Johnson will be the featured artist July 23 - September 4 at The Curiosity Shop located in The Shoppes Of Murphy, downtown Murphy. Penny is a watercolorist painting portraits and local landscapes. Misty mountains, waterfalls and lake scenes are some of her favorite inspirations. Her original works and some prints will be on exhibit. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at various locations. The August 6th meeting will be held at Brother's Restaurant in Murphy, NC.. We invite all those interested in pure bred dogs and canine activities to attend. Friday, Aug. 17, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce will help kick off.The grand opening celebration for Nantahala Bank and Trust with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. The bank is at 86 Hiwassee St., Murphy.
