CALENDAR ITEMS Friday, Aug. 17, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce will help kick off.The grand opening celebration for Nantahala Bank and Trust with a ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m. The bank is at 86 Hiwassee St., Murphy. Food labels contain a wealth of valuable information. Come to a free health seminar to learn how to decipher labels and choose foods that are best for you. 7 p.m. August 9 at the Blairsville Better Living Center on Watkins Road, Blairsville, 1.4 miles east of Home Depot and just west of Mountain Building Supply. The next regular meeting of the Mountain Country Rod & Gun Club will be held Tuesday, August 21st, 6:00 p.m. at Freddy Cook's farm located on Caddy Shack Road in Brasstown. The club will be rehearsing for the Skeet Shooting Venue that they will host at the upcoming August 25th Scott Hogsed Memorial Youth Conservation Day.
