Andrews town alderman arrested
According to law enforcementt, Jordan, 42, and Lee Boyd Sosebee, 76, entered White's Solo located on US Highway 19 attempting to purchase a six pack of beer valued at about $7 on Sunday morning at 11:33 a.m. The store clerk refused to sell Jordan the beer due to a law that prohibits the sell before noon on Sundays. Cherokee County Sheriff Keith Lovin said that the store operates surveillance cameras which showed Jordan and, then unknown,Sosebee left the establishment with the beer without paying for the item. Lovin said that later in the day, roughly around 2 p.m. Jordan reappeared at the Solo and payed for the beer. "He seems to feel that it is OK (to pay for the beer later)," Lovin said. Lovin said that when Jordan heard that a warrant had been issued he turned himself into law enforcement. Lovin said that the investigation is ongoing and that the State Alcohol Law Enforcement unit will take part in the investigation next week. Jordan was released on a $300 unsecured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, August 22. Andrews Mayor Johnny Brown said that he wants to wait until all of the facts come to light and see where it goes. Attempts to contact Jordan's attorney for comment where unsuccessful at the time of printing. |
