Gladys Taylor

Gladys Radford Taylor, 87, of Murphy died Friday (Aug. 17, 2007) in a Murphy care facility. A native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, she was the daughter of the late Garland and Bessie Woody Radford and the wife of the late Frank Hendrix Taylor. She was a retired nurse's aid and a member of the New Hope Church of God. She was a prayer warrior for all she knew and loved and for all she came in contact with. She believed strongly in the power of prayer and in the Lord Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Gladys was a loving and devoted sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her children, Wayne, Anne Ruth, Doyle, and Harold Taylor; and her brothers, Ralph, Gay, and Glen Radford.

Surviving are four daughters, Ellen Marlow and husband, Clayman of California, KY, Betty Vela and husband, Julio of Richmond, KY, Linda Coomer and husband, Jerry of Goshen, OH, and Billy Jean Wernke and husband, Walter of Medley, FL; five sisters, Grace Phelps, and Ruby

and Phyllis Radford all of Cincinnati, OH, Madge Phillips of Phoenix, AZ, and Blanche Horton and husband, Eastley of West Chester, OH; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; four nieces and eight nephews; two daughters in-law, Goldie and Mary Taylor; many friends and prayer partners all over the United States; and many others who called her "Granny" and loved her very much.

Pallbearers: Tom Horton, Mike and Mark Marlow, Kenny Radford, Dwayne Taylor, and Marvin Shuler. Honorary pallbearers: Donnie Palmer, Calvin Whitener, and Vaxter Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in loving memory of Gladys Radford Taylor to the Ogreeta Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Franklin and Alice Martin, 55 Crystal Springs Road, Murphy, NC 28906.

Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy was in charge of all arrangements.
