Sixth Business Expo & Job Fair plans near completion

The Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, Tri- County Community College and the NC Employment Security Commission/NC JobLink are busy planning the Sixth Business Expo & Job Fair to be held Sept. 14 & 15 at Tri-County Community College.

Helping fund this showcase of business and industry at the Chamber Champion Level is the Tennessee Valley Authority. Patrons are Blue Ridge EMC, Eller & Owens Furniture, Macon Bank, Murphy Medical Center and Sentinel Newspapers. Participating at the sponsor level are Betsy Lane State Farm Insurance, Cherokee Scout/Andrews Journal, First Citizens Bank, NC Employment Security Commission/Job Link, Rose Insurance, Scenic Realty of Murphy/Keller Williams and Snap-on.

Participants include:

210th Military Police Co., NC National Guard; 400 Edition, Appalachian Heritage Crafters, Brasstown Computing Services, Budget Blinds, Carolina Farm Credit, Carolina Mountain Homes ERA, Cherokee County Volunteer Fire Departments and EMS units, Debbie Garrison Shaklee Distributor, Designerís Alley Salon & Spa, Family Resources of Cherokee County, Farm Bureau Insurance, Indian Hills Spring Water, Industrial Opportunities Inc., Miller Well Drilling, Moog, Munters, NC Extension Service, Outdoor Living, Rocks to Roses Landscaping, Smokey Mountain Shopper, SMT & Vinyl Works, Team Industries, Tri-County Community Education, US Army, Valley River Human Society and Weddings By The Foster Sisters.

Others are expected to sign up by the Sept. 7 deadline. For information on participation, call 837.2242.

The TCCC Student Government Association is helping as greeters, and more during show hours. The TC Bear will also attend to liven up the event for young and old.

Exhibits will feature information on businesses, services and job opportunities. Admission is free along with free popcorn, balloons, and lots of giveaways from the exhibitors and door prizes provided by the participants. Event hours are 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 14, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15.

Also planned is a Taste of Cherokee County Restaurants to showcase their eateries and to sell food and refreshments during the event on Saturday only. The emcee for both days will be Ed Cloud of WCVP-WCNG.
