Perfect attendance recognized

Perfect attendance awards were presented to (from left) Alexis Chris, Courtney Williams, Megan Weaver, Heidi Stecher, Elijah Shields, Carrie Guthrie, Devin Cordin, Kristin Byers, Ryan Cordin, Chelsea Howe and Tiffany Jourdain.

A first day assembly to kick off the 2007 school year at Hiwassee Dam High School was highlighted with the presentation of perfect attendance awards to 11 students. The students had accomplished a perfect attendance record for the entire 2006 school year.

After Principal Kenny Garland recognized and congratulated the students, he held a drawing to award a $25 gift certificate. Sophomore Chelsea Howe was the recipient of the certificate.

"It's quite an achievement to not miss even one day during a high school year," said Susan LaCharité-Otwell, the school's attendance officer. "We applaud these students for their work ethic and motivation to be in attendance every day. We also thank their parents who made sure they were with us."
