Local Fall hiking schedule

The following scheduled hikes are at a moderate level:

Saturday, October 20:

The TRI STATE WANDERERS will begin their Fall hiking season with 4 to 5 miles of hiking on trails at JACK RABBIT MOUNTAIN. We will begin with the blue trail and then explore the new bike/hike trails recently opened. Meet Hike Leader Clyde Godschall, 610-413-6281 at 9:30 AM at the Ingles grocery store, route 64 in Hayesville, NC. Please call for auxillary meeting location

Thursday, October 25:

Todays hike will be at Tennessee's TURTLETOWN FALLS, off route 68 near the Hiwassee River crossing. We will pass two waterfalls on this in & out hike totaling 4 miles.Meet Hike Leader Clyde Godschall, 610-413-6281 at 9:30 AM at the Brother's Restaurant on route US 64/74 just west of the junction with US 19/129 south.

Saturday, November 3:

3.6 miles on the APPALACHIAN TRAIL in GEORGIA, from WOODY GAP west to GOOCH GAP. Short shuttle involved.. Meet Hike Leader Clyde Godschall, 610-413-6281 at 9:30 AM at the Bilo's parking lot in Blairsville, GA

Saturday, November 10:

This mornings Wanderers event will be a 4 to 5 mile hike over trails in the HANGING DOG recreation area, north of Murphy, NC on the Joe Brown Highway. Meet Hike Leader Clyde Godschall, 610-413-6281 at 9:30 AM in front of the APPALACHIAN OUTFITTERS store, 104A Tennessee Street in Murphy. Bring along a snack and drink for a short break. Arrive early to check out this interesting store for hiking gear.

Saturday, November 17:

The Tri State Wanderers will meet at 9:30 AM at the Bilo's parking lot in Blairsville, GA and travel to GA route 75 for a four mile hike in the HIGH SCHOALS FALLS AREA. There are two waterfalls along this two mile trail, one of the prettiest hikes in Geogia. Clyde Godschall, 610-413-6281, for more information.

There will be other impromptu events scheduled during this shortened hiking season, including several GEOCACHING searches and other short hikes requested by participants in the area at this time. Please contact Clyde to have your named added to e-mail list.
