Letters to the Editor Editor, Thank you for helping to advertise our Gospel Song Festival of Choirs 2007. We also appreciate the hospitality extended to us by Rev. Aud. Brown and the Little Brasstown Baptist Church congregation. During the prelude, the audience enjoyed Betty Benson's melodic sounds from the organ, followed by nine-year-old vocalist Hailey Saraney, who won the hearts of all listeners. Then the Foothills Connection Barbershop Quartet performed with full, rich, and exciting sounds of close harmony. Each choral group was unique as they presented an exceptional variety of musical selections, which received heartfelt support from the audience throughout the evening. We are already looking forward to next year's festival. Jeri-Ruth Roberts Festival coordinator Time to start filling shoeboxes with gifts Operation Christmas Child, a unique project of Samaritan's Purse, headed by Franklin Graham sent in 2006 more than 7.6 million shoebox gifts that blessed boys and girls in over 100 countries with the love of Jesus Christ. We may not be able to go there ourselves, but through Operation Christmas Child and all of us who choose to participate by packing a shoebox with small toys and gifts, we can make an impact on children's lives and put a smile on their faces. In Novermber 2006, churches, schools, families, organizations, and invidviduals of Cherokee and Clay Counties, and surrounding areas sent 2,141 shoeboxes of joy. Your official Operation Christmas Child Collection Center for this area is the Murphy Seventhday Adventist Church and will be accepting your shoeboxes Nov. 12th-18th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. or by an appointment. For information you may call Lois James, 644-5670, Corky Cook, 837-6476 or Carl Hartman 321-0522. |
