Harold Jenkins

Harold Woodrow Jenkins, age 85, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Murphy Medical Center, Murphy, NC after an extended illness.

Harold loved life and gave his unconditional love for all of his family & friends.

A native of Cherokee County, NC; he was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was inactive member of the Marble Masonic Lodge. He was a foreman at Columbia Marble Company for a number years. He later moved to Chester, VA where he was employed by C. W. Wright Construction and later retired and returned to his home in Marble, N.C. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was the son of the late Dee and Hattie DeHart Jenkins and proceeded in death by his wife, Vaye Palmer Jenkins; two brothers, Oscar Porter Jenkins and Claude Jenkins; one sister, Lena Jenkins Pace and a grandson, Kenneth (Kenny) Hall. He is survived by a daughter, Geraldine Jenkins of Murphy, NC; grandsons, Jeff Hall and wife Renee of Summerfield, NC, Brian Hall and friend Russ Nelson, of Tucker, GA and Erik Zimmerman and wife Ashley of Gainesville, GA; a sister, Virgie Parker of Port Charles County, VA; a sister in-law, Lena Zimmerman Flynn and husband Mel of Marble, NC; and a special niece, Shirley Zimmerman and husband Hoyt of Marble, N.C.

Pallbearers: Vick Breedlove, Johnny Palmer, Neil McKeehan, Bob Barton, Joe Barton and Marvin Jenkins.
