Gordon Jones

Gordon W. Jones, 68, of Murphy died Sunday October 14, 2007. He was a native and lifetime resident of Cherokee County, and the son of Laura McClure Jones of Murphy and the late Claude "Snyder" Jones. Gordon operated an indep endent Nationwide Insurance Agency in Murphy for many years. He was a member of the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #146 and was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of 46 years, Mary Kephart Jones; a son, Scott Jones of Murphy; four sisters, Patsy Hendrix of Murphy, Barbara Hughes of Murphy, Ruth Bay of Cartersville, GA, and Carolyn Bryant of Murphy;  and three grandsons, Levi, Jared, and Micah Jones. Pallbearers: Davis Bryant, Mickey Hendrix, Rhett Kephart, Evan Kephart, Lee Ferguson, and Roy Dickey. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials may be made in loving memory of Gordon W. Jones to the Hampton Memorial United Methodist Cemetery Fund, c/o Helen Lockaby, 1655 Harshaw Rd., Murphy, NC 28906.
