Blacksmith Auction fundraiser to be held

BRASSTOWN, NC - John C. Campbell Folk School will host its annual Blacksmith Auction on Saturday, November 3, at 2:00p.m. in Brasstown, as it raises funds to benefit its various class programs.
This year, proceeds will also benefit the school's Blacksmith Studio Expansion Fundraising Campaign. Jan Davidson, Folk School Director, and Emcee for the auction, said, "Brasstown is rightly known as a center of fineblacksmithing. Everybody is excited about the new blacksmith shop addition and this will be a very special auction."
Auctioneers Tim Ryan and Bob Grove will guide the bidding on handmade craft donated by area artists, instructors and students at the Folk School. The auction will include many types of media, including in part: forged ironwork, pottery, jewelry, finewoodworking, dolls, turned wood, photography, and basketry.
An auction preview begins at 1:00p.m. in the Community Room of the Keith House. The live auction begins at 2:00p.m. A silent auction will also be held 1:00p.m. to 2:00p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call 828-837-2775 or 1-800-365-5724 or visit www.folkschool.org.

Founded in 1925, the non-profit John C. Campbell Folk School offers over 830 classes each year in traditional and contemporary craft, art, music, dance, cooking, gardening, nature studies, photography and writing. It features a Craft Shop and History Center and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
