Cherokee County Senior Games set for 2008, Former medalists featured in local Christmas parade

PHOTO SUBMITTED Four Senior Games bowling medalists will be able to compete for Cherokee County for the first time in 2008. From left to right, Ron Mack who is on the newly formed Senior Games executive board; Helen Mack and Della Phillips, who were bowling doubles NC state gold medalists in 2003; Bob Phillips, who has won medals in track and field as well as bowling. These four will join other Senior Games winners in the Murphy Christmas Parade Dec 1 and the Andrews Christmas Parade Dec 8.

Former Senior Games medalists will participate in the Murphy Christmas Parade December 1, and the Andrews Christmas Parade December 8. Senior Games/Silver Arts competitions will be held in Cherokee County for the first time next year. Local residents had previously competed in Swain County Senior Games.
