Guest instructors this month at Yarn Circle focus on needle and wet felting
November is another busy month at Yarn Circle in Peachtree.
"We are happy to feature two guest instructors, Kaye Patterson and Becky Walker, this month," said Pam Howard, co-owner of the yarn and fiber store. "They both love to teach and look forward to working with both beginners and experienced students."
"Kaye will continue her focus on needle felting, encouraging students to try their hand at creating small animals by manipulating handfuls of colorfully dyed wool with a small needle tool. Next month she will teach needle felting techniques for making holiday ornaments." This class is on Monday November 19th from 2-4 p.m. The cost is $20 plus materials and pre-registration is recommended.
On Friday, November 30th Becky Walker will teach "wet felting" with a holiday focus. Wet felting involves rubbing layers of wool with a wet and soapy hand motion to agitate the fiber. This is an ageold technique and the end result is a fabric that makes itself. The class will be from 2-4:30 p.m., the cost is $25 plus materials and pre-registration is recommended.
Patterson, also a metal smith and a frequent teacher at the Campbell Folk School, is from Cherokee County. Walker is from Mountain Rest, South Carolina, also a Folk School Instructor and just this year became the proud mother of two sheep.
