-135 high school students in Cherokee County in online classes, Hiwassee Dam High School will be getting Mandarin Chinese II (already has Mandarin Chinese I).

-70 LDC projectors and Smartboards installed this month. Thanks given to Justin Sickle and Ken Joyner for helping install.

-Mrs. Williams, Ranger Elementary School principal, introduced United Streaming. A video was shown called "Shift Happens: Emphasis In Technology And Change".

-Over 400 employees attended technology training at Western Carolina University two weeks ago. Of these Rick Carter of Murphy Elementary did a presentation on music technology, and Andrea Stewart (Andrews High School) and Susan Otwell (Hiwassee Dam) did a presentation on online classes.

-School Board member Randal Shields was recognized as an All-State Board Member, one of eight recognized. Mary Ruth Keller and Dr. Brian Mitchell have also received the award.

-Bill Gaither of the Mountain Youth School was appointed to the North Carolina Alternative Learning program.

-Marble Elementary had Grandparents' Day and a Veterans Day program, 14 veterans attended.

-Hiwassee Dam School, Andrews Elementary, Martins Creek Elementary, and Murphy Middle participated in a code red drill, which was a great success.

-The Hiwassee Dam Elementary School PTA has raised $17,000 for the playground fund. They have ordered the first half of the equipment.

-The Tri-County Early College received a $1,000 matching grant from Wal-Mart.

-Ranger Elementary recently had their Veteran's Day program, in which every student participated in some way.
