Checkmate at library

A chess club for youngsters was started in the Murphy Public Library in May 2006. It recognized the values of the game and how its so applicable to their own style of teaching. Second year 2007 started with a bang and grew to 35 youngsters. The class was held every Tuesday 1-3 p.m. with again Aaron Rogers immerging as two time champion. A new comer Jeremy Cook finished a close second.

The chess club will start up in the spring and all youngsters of all ages will be warmly welcomed.
