Willard Radford
Willard Ed Radford, age 89, of Goldie Garrett Road, Marble, NC dued Friday, December 7, 2007 at Murphy Medical Center in Murphy, NC.
A native of Cherokee County, NC; he was the son of the late Joseph Andrew and Margrette Wilson Radford. He served as a Staff Sgt. in the US Army during WW II. Ed worked for B. F. Goodrich and retired from the Summit County Water Department in Ohio as a foreman. He moved to Marble, NC in 1990. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and visiting his friends. He was a member of the Old Fashioned Baptist Church and loved his church family. He was preceded in death by two wives, Pearl Gross Radford and Regina Hyde Morris Radford; two step-daughters, Robbie Hughes and Linda Parson; two brothers, Earl Radford and Wilson Radford; and two sisters, Nellie Oakes and Josephine Burgess.
He is survived by three stepdaughters, Sandy Laney, Brenda Carder and Wanda Morris Bradley all of Murphy, NC; a specical nephew, Marvin Radford of Nebo, NC; two sisters-in-law, Ollie Radford of Cleveland, TN and
Martha Radford of Marble, NC.; eleven step-grandchildren; seventeen step-great grandchildren; and three step-great-great grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins survive also.
Funeral services were December 9, 2007 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC with the Rev. Hoyt Brown officiating. Interment was in the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Military graveside rites conducted by Veterans Organizations: Murphy V. F. W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post # 96 and D. A. V. Chapter # 73 and Clay County V. F. W. Post # 6812. Pallbearers will be: Matthew Bradley, Joshua Laney, Justin Simonds, Jacob Conley, Logan Conley and Eddie Ferguson.
