Frances Townson

Frances Moore Townson, age 75, of Murphy, NC died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. after an extended illness.

A native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC; she was a daughter of the late John Bunyan Moore, Sr. and Bessie Hensley Moore. She was a member of the Murphy Presbyterian Church. Frances was owner and operator with her late husband of the Ed Townson Buick, Pontiac and GMC Automobile Dealership in Murphy for 45 years until their retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward "Ed" Townson in 1999; three brothers, J. B. Moore, Jr., Harry Lee Moore, Sr. and William T. Moore; and two sisters, Nellie McAfee and Jeanette Graham.

Frances is survived by a son, Mike Townson and friend Tracy Archambault of Murphy, NC; a daughter, Sarah Townson Ament and husband Lee Ament of Madisonville, TN; a brother, Richard Moore of the Little Choga Community in Macon County, NC;

three sisters, Pat Jabaley of Chattanooga, TN, Ruth Fleming of Greer, SC and Mary Brown of Andrews, NC; two grandchildren, Hailey Lane Townson of Murphy, NC and Robert Townson Ament of Madisonville, TN.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, 2007, at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. The Rev. Alan Wildsmith and Rev. L. B. Adams will officiate. Pallbearers were Steve Moore, James Howard Jabaley, Tony Graham, Sam McAfee, Christopher Moore, Bill Moore, Terry Brown, Joe Craig, Lonnie Oliver and Bob Hatchett.

In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made In Memory of Frances Moore Townson to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, P. O. Box 1151, Murphy, NC 28906.
