Toys for Tots says "thank you"

Dear Editor:

On Saturday, November 17, Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots held its first fund raiser of 2007 for the Andrews-Marble area at Ingles in Andrews.

We sold barbecue pork plates from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. It was a great success and would not have been so had it not been for several generous individuals, as well as businesses.

I would like to thank Marine Mark Flynn who donated the barbecue. You kept us going even when it looked like we might run out and we were able to finish the day. Elsie Lail, owner of Elsie's steak and Seafood, thank you for donating the coleslaw. To managers Larry Owenby and Josh Morgan at Ingles, thank you for allowing us to use Ingles parking lot to hold our fund raiser. There are several other Marines and their families that I would like to thank - Ron and Pat Eicholtz, Jack Rhodes, Brian and Annalyn VanBuskirk, Barbara Robles, Ruth Maund, Mike Russell, Richard Smith and Howard Wilson - these ladies and gentlemen helped us to set up, serve customers, as well as clean up and put away everything. They also baked cakes for dessert. I would also like to thank Frankie Martin who baked and donated two cakes for our cause. Thank you to WKRK radio station in Murphy for announcing our event to the community. A heart felt thank you goes to all the members of the community who bought plates or made donations. Your kindness will ensure that our area's less fortunate children have a merry Christmas.

Sincerely, Ramona Hensley
