Third quarter Eagle surge buries Braves

The Hiwassee Dam Lady Eagles had a huge run in the third quarter of their game on December 4 against Cherokee.

The Lady Eagles were leading 23-20 at the half. But Hiwassee Dam outscored the Braves 16-4 in the third quarter and won the game 56-32.

Sophomore Kareen Abling had a double/double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Jenna Harris had 17 points and eight rebounds. Harris had six steals while Amber Boring had four steals and Melissa Ball had three steals.

Hiwassee Dam Coach Chris Reynolds said of the third quarter surge by the Eagles, "Hiwassee Dam really turned up the defensive intensity and came away with some steals that led to easy buckets. The girls really played great for about a 12-minute stretch in the second half. We really learned a lot tonight."
