Elder abuse awareness worshops offered PEACHTREE - Meals on Wheels volunteers of Clay and Cherokee County will be participating in a joint workshop on Thursday March 6th, from 1:30-3:00 PM at the McSwain Lecture Hall at TriCounty Community College in Peachtree. This workshop will offer persons some of the basics of elder abuse, what it is, the different kinds, how to recognize the signs and symptoms of abuse, and how to respond. The workshop will be led by Michael Rich, the Elder SAFE Project Coordinator for the 30th Judicial District Domestic Violence-Sexual Assault Alliance, Inc. The Elder SAFE program is sponsored by a grant from the Governor's Crime Commission and focuses on developing awareness of elder abuse in the seven western counties of North Carolina.
