DOROTHY DYER

Dorothy Evelyn "Granny Pat" Dyer, age 88 of Murphy, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the home of her son, Dr. Bill Dyer.

She was born in Henderson County, NC and attended Brevard College where she met her husband. She was a member of the Murphy First United Methodist Church and was a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late Dillard and Arie Reed Pittillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Lafayette Dyer who died January 2, 1981.

Granny Pat is survived by two sons, Dr. Bill Dyer and his wife Cissy of Murphy and Tim Dyer of Atlanta; three granddaughters, Jennifer Pitman and her husband Travis of Spruce Pine, NC, Melanie Allen and her husband Jamie of Murphy, and Hope Dyer of Murphy, and fivegreat-grandchildren, Ty and Tate Pitman both of Spruce Pine, NC and Patrick, Georjah and John Allen all of Murphy.

The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 29, = at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at the Murphy First United Methodist Church in Murphy. The Rev. George Yates officiated. Interment will be in the Hampton Memorial Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Watson, Flip Watson, David Gentry, Freddie Lockaby, John Snow III and Cal Stiles.
