A steady rain didn't keep Andrews seniors from graduating nor did it keep their parents, friends and supporters from turning out in droves to cheer them on as they step out into life after high school.
To a packed high school gym, 58 seniors received their diploma from superintendent Jennette Hedrick, principal Tim Coffey and David Ackerman, Chairman of the Board of Education.
Ackerman also presented the "outstanding senior girl" award to Meredith Rebecca Wood, while board member Debbie Hogan presented the "outstanding senior boy" award to Joshua Alexander Moore.
Starting off the ceremony, the Andrews High School Band played Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance as well as the Alma Mater prior to the awarding of diplomas and finally the Recessional. Anna Walker gave the Superior Honor Address, while Stephanie Oakey and Shannon Christy each gave a High Honor Address.
Following the ceremony, there was a flourish of silly string, hugs, cheers and pictures taken with parents and friends. As the graduated left the gym, the rain stopped and the sky broke out into full sunlight, perhaps a good omen for the event.
