185% of Poverty Income Guidelines* effective July 1, 2008

WIC is available to pregnant, breast feeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to age five. To participate, these persons must:

• Be a resident of North Carolina. Resident aliens are eligible to apply as long as they live in the state.

• Have a family income less than 185% of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines. A person receiving Medicaid, Work First Families Assistance, or Food Stamps automatically meets the income eligibility requirement.

• Be at nutritional risk.

To apply for WIC call the Cherokee County Health Department at 837-7486.
