Simpson, Purcell to read orginial works

NCWN West (Netwest) invites all to the John C. Campbell Folk School, in Brasstown, August 21 to enjoy the reading of original works by Nancy Simpson and Nancy Purcell, members of the NCWN West (Netwest). The readings will be held in the Keith House at 7 p.m.

Nancy Simpson is the "Writer in Residence" at the John C. Campbell Folk School. She is the author of poetry book Night Student and chapbook Across Water. She has been published in countless literary journals and recently in a new anthology of Appalachian Poetry and will be in an upcoming anthology A Poet's Guide to Birds. She is included in Literary Trails of North Carolina.

Nancy Purcell studied Creative Writing at Florida Atlantic University, attended the Iowa Summer Workshops, and served as a North Carolina Writers Network/Elizabeth Squire Daniels Writer-in- Residence at Peace College in Raleigh, under the guidance of Doris Betts. She teaches a Creative Writing course in the Brevard College Community Education program.

Her stories have appeared in the newspaper and various literary magazines including: RiverSedge, The MacGuffin, Pangolin Papers, Troika, LongStory- Short, The Square Table and Bereavement.
