JOYCE PALMER

Joyce Strange Palmer, age 74, of Tatham Street, Andrews, went to be with her savior and best friend Jesus Christ, Wednesday, August 6, 2008.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Joyce was a retired owner and operator of a Childrens Daycare Center; she had worked in the elementary school lunch room, Clifton Precision and was the local Blair dealer. She was a member of the Pisgah Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and crafts. She was granny Joyce to a large number of children over the years that she cared for.

She was the daughter of the late Henry Andrew and Ira Lee Mays Strange and was preceded in death by her estranged husband, Wesley Palmer Jr., who died May 30, 2008 and four brothers, Hugh Strange, Jerry Strange, Jim Strange and H.A. Strange and one infant sister.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Michael Wesley and Adele Palmer of Hartwell, Ga,; three daughters, Teresa and her husband Steve West of Andrews, Rebecca Jean Palmer of Andrews, and Kathy Renee Palmer and her husband, Craig Woodside of Taylor, SC; two brothers, Billy Strange of York, SC and Harry Strange of Charlotte; one sister, Annette Kirkland of Grant, Ala.; six grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Amy Palmer, Jeremy and his wife Charity Lane, Greta Lane, Melissa West, Curtis and his wife, Lacy West and Cassidy Ann Woodside and eight greatgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a vast number of friends whom she always thanked God for.

The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.

Funeral Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 10, at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. The Revs. Steve West and Eddie Hardin officiated. Burial was in the Valley River Baptist Church Cemetery in Andrews. Pallbearers were Kyle Cunningham, Lenny Cutshaw, Howard Brown, Ted Paul and Russ Paul.
