HELEN C. WALDROUP

Helen C. Waldroup, 85, of Marietta, Ga., formerly of Murphy, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 in a Cobb County, Ga., hospital. She was a native of Cherokee County, but had lived in Marietta for over 50 years. She was the daughter of the late William Harve and Vesta Martin Carringer and the wife of the late Frank C. Waldroup, who died August 14, 2008. She had worked as a hairdresser and was a homemaker. Helen was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Smyrna, Ga. Her hobbies included gardening and sharing the love of raising miniature horses with her late husband, Frank.

Surviving are seven nieces and three nephews.

The family received friends from 12-1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy prior to the services.

A double funeral service for Frank C. and Helen C. Waldroup was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 19 in the Chapel of the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy with the Rev. Marvin Frady officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers were Matthew and Cole Mallonee, Danny Clark, Jim Head, Tommy McGuire, and M.G. Decker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Helen C. Waldroup to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.

Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy in charge of all arrangements.
