MARY JO "JOSIE" COOK Mary Jo "Josie" Cook, age 92, of Fleming, Ga., died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. She was a native of Murphy for 80 years, but had lived in Fleming for the past 12 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Murphy, but attended Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Fleming. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kate and William McClure and her husband of 52 years, John Edwin Cook. Surviving are two daughters, Judy Norris of Fleming and Jane E. Maresca and husband, Bill of Palm Coast, Fla.; a son, John E. Cook and wife, Charlene of Jacksonville, FL; a granddaughter, Lynn Odom and husband, Johnny of Savannah, Ga.; two grandsons, Joey R. Norris and wife, Celia of Fleming and Jason C. Cook of Jacksonville; two great granddaughters, Rebecca and Megan Odom of Savannah; two great grandsons, Joseph Edwin and Jack Anthony Norris of Fleming, a step great granddaughter, Chelsea Welch of Fleming, a step great grandson, Billy Welch of Fleming; two sisters, Grace Newton of Ravenswood, W. Virg., and Ruth Moore of Sistersville, W. Virg.; a brother, Ralph McClure and wife, Margie of Boardman, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and loving friends. A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 19 in the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 21 at the Ivie Funeral Home, Murphy. A private family burial will be conducted Friday morning, August 22 in Murphy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church Building Fund, PO Box 312, Fleming, GA 31309 or to Hospice Savannah, Inc., Liberty County Chapter, PO Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416.
