AMOS MOSS
He was a native of Cherokee County, and the son of the late C. W. and Rebecca Garrett Moss. Amos was a loggger, a carpenter who built several houses in the area and a member of the Valleytown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mellie Jordan Moss in 1985; son, Larry Moss; brother, Grover Moss and three sisters, Ruth Biddix, Faye and Alice. He is survived by his wife, Ann Shipton Moss; four sons, Paul Moss and his wife Carolyn, Donnie Moss and his wife Trudy, Terry Moss and his wife Carol all of Marble, and Ben Davis and his wife Mary Ann of Andrews; five daughters, Virginia Welch and her husband Larry of Marietta, Ga., Matilda Carerrez and her husband Louis of Leominter, Mass., Joanna Barrett and her husband Merwin of North Valley, NY, Amy Dacyczym and her husband Jim of Leeds, Maine and Laurie Mintz and her husband Mark of Marble; a sister, Fannie Stalcup of Murphy; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, at the Valleytown Baptist Church in Andrews. Funeral Services wereheld at 8 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, at the Valleytown Baptist Church. The Revs. Paul Jones, Johnny Burrell, Randal Moss and Paul Ray Morgan officiated. Burial was in the Moss Cemetery on Wednesday, August 20, at 11 a.m. Grandsons serving as pallbearers were, Artie Andros, Sherrill Moss, Sidney Moss, Jason Moss, Donnie Moss Jr., Daniel Moss, Phillip Moss, Levi Moss, Justin Mintz and Ben Davis. Honorary Pallbearer will be James Moss. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made In Memory of Amos Moss to the Valleytown Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Ruby Brown, 2542 Stewart Road, Andrews, NC 28901 or to the Andrews Sunshine Club, PO Box 83, Andrews, NC 28901.
