Da niel Verner

Daniel R. Verner, age 65, of Murphy, NC passed away Monday, August 18, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Verner was a native of Cherokee County; he was the son of the late Cecil and Ona Bea Verner. He was a miner with the Tennessee Chemical Copper Company from 1966 to 1987 and with Vulcan Materials in Blairsville, Ga., for 10 years. He was a member of Farner Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Verner and one sister, Gena Verner Hill.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Hazelene Douglas Verner; three daughters, Diane (CeCe) Seiler of Huntsville, Ala., Kimberly Cole and Carol Kelley both of Murphy; one brother, Donald Verner of Thorsby, Ala.; one sister, Evelyn Sneed of Murphy; and seven grandchildren, Curtis Hass, Brian Hass and Adam Kelly of Murphy, Jenny Seiler and Zac Seiler of Huntsvilleand Jonathan Cole and Amber Cole of Turtletown, Tenn.

The family received friends from 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, August 20, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.

Funeral services wereheld at 1 p.m., Thursday, August 21, at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. The Revs. Chris Seabolt, Billy Rhodes and Pastor Earl Seiler officiated. Burial was in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chuck Massengill, Freddy Wehunt, Johnny Smith, Charlie Byers, Jim Young and Billy Clayton. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Mariano.
