Madonna Stiles

Madonna Ruth Chastain Stiles, age 57 of Murphy, passed away Friday, August 22, 2008 in Asheville.

Mrs. Stiles was a lifelong resident of Cherokee County. She was the daughter of the late Judson and Marie Chastain. Madonna was graduate of Murphy High School and of the University of North Carolina- Asheville, CumLada, former Miss Lake Hiawassee of 1968 and a member of Old Martins Creek Church where she was a Sunday School youth teacher. She was a song writer, publisher and writer of many children's books. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jordin Faith Reed.

She is survived by her husband, Larry G. Stiles; one son, Chad L. Stiles; one daughter, Sabrina Madonna Stiles Reed and her husband Mark; two brothers, Ray Hobert Chastain and his wife Sue Ann and Edward Harmon Chastain; three sisters, Martha Chastain McKeon, Vickie Chastain Dickerson and her husband Robert and Barbara Kay Chastain; aunt, Nona Roland; nephews and nieces, Paul Koehler, Maria Beebe, Shelley Dickey, Kim Shepherd, Bonnie Chastain and Amanda Chastain and greatnephews and nieces, Benjamin Beebe, Bethany Beebe and Levi Chastain.

A Memorial Service was held at 1 p.m., Sunday, August 24, at the Old Martins Creek Church. The Rev. David Feathers officiated. Music was provided by Martha Jean Hatchett. Photo and music program was provided by Amanda Chastain and Wayne Hiatt.
