Helen Walker

Helen Walker, age 91 of Hendersonville, NC formerly of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at Harnett Manor in Lillington, NC following a long illness.

Mrs. Walker was a native of Cherokee County; she was the daughter of the late James Bowman and Paralee (Pearl) Young Harris. She was a member of Perrine Peters United Methodist Church in Perrine, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Harris Walker; one son, Max Waller and five sisters, Mae Hawkins, Esther Foster, Marie Hawkins, Arrie Patterson and Evelyn (Bill) Hall.

She is survived by daughter, Michele Hagan and her husband Marshall of Hendersonville; two sisters, Lexie H. Dalzell and Ruth H. Owenby both of Murphy; one brother, Harold Harris of Murphy; grandsons, Marshall Harris Hagan and Dereck Hagan both of Hendersonville; granddaughters, Denise Bragg and her husband Jim, Debby Merchant and her husband Bob; great-grandchildren, Dan, Brian, Vanessa and Amber Bragg, Ashley Alexander and Bryce Merchant and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, August 30, at Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral services wereheld at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 30, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Murphy. The Rev. Aud Brown officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
