Beulah Reed

Beulah Palmer Reed, 96, of Murphy, died Oct. 9, 2008 at Murphy Medical Center.

Born May 27, 1912, in Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Paschal and Bessie Palmer.

She grew up in Andrews and graduated from Andrews High School, and was a member of Andrews First Baptist Church. After moving to Murphy, she worked many years in the textile industry and has lived the past 31 years in the Peachtree community.

She was preceded in death by husband, Henry L. Reed; grandaughter, Michelle Reed; brother, James Palmer; and nephew, Junior McElreath.

Surviving are children, Eddie and Pearl Reed of New Bedford, Penn.; Bob and Susie Reed of Douglasville, Ga.; Tom and Evelyn Reed of Peachtree; Jean and Joe Volrath of Asheville; Martha and David Jones of Powder Springs, Ga.; Betty and Jim Stout of Ellijay, Ga.; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; neices, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Saturday October 11, in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, Murphy, with the Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Cemetery in Murphy.
