Ru th Kincaid

Ruth Marie Kincaid, age 94, of Asheville, NC formerly of Murphy, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge in Asheville.

She was a native of Macon County, NC and a faithful member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Murphy, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. For years, Ruth and her husband visited the sick and she would prepare meals for them before Meals-on-Wheels started. Ruth had worked for many years as a housekeeper for Ruth Wilson. She was the daughter of the late Tom Ben and Georgia Stewart McDonald.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Earnest Fair and John Edward Fair; one brother, Robert McDonald and two sisters, Grace Cochran and Virginia Parrish.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Harley Joe Kincaid Sr.; two sons, Harley Joe Kincaid Jr. and his wife, Lillie of Waynesville, NC and Harry Fair Jr. and his wife, Corrine of Asheville; two daughters, Vallie Fair Bowman of Asheville and Dorothy Lee Fair Mack and her husband, Sinclair of Dover, Delaware; two brothers, Lewis and Ted McDonald both of Chattanooga, Tenn., and sister, Annie Jean Kincaid of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services wereheld at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 16, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Murphy. TheRev. John Webb officiated. Interment was in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Murphy.

The family received friends from 1-2 p.m., Sunday, November 16, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Murphy.
